Darren Andrews is a founding director of Cobalt and has developed the company from the early stages of technology development. He began his career as a physical chemist, gaining a degree in chemistry and a PhD in short-pulse laser spectroscopy from Manchester University. Darren move to industry with Unilever Research, where he developed products based on novel polymer technology in collaboration with several multinational companies. From there he moved to Nippon Lever in Japan, working in the development and marketing division creating products tailored to the Japanese market. Darren moved to the UK's Science and Technology Facilities Council to develop commercial opportunities for new technology before moving into Cobalt.
