Cobalt Light Systems has appointed Paul Loeffen as the new chief executive officer (CEO). Paul has direct experience of managing early-stage companies in this sector having co-founded Oxford Diffraction Limited in 2001 where he was the CEO until its acquisition in 2008 (in a deal worth $48million in total).
Cobalt’s Chief Scientific Officer, Prof. Pavel Matousek is to be presented with the prestigious Charles Mann Award by the Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies (FACSS) at its annual conference in Louisville, KY in October 2009.
Mike Hargreaves, Cobalt’s Applications Scientist, has been invited to talk at a major security conference. The SPIE’s European Security and Defence conference is in Berlin from August 31st to the 3rd of September.
Cobalt Light Systems will be at the co-located conferences Pharmaceutical Co-Crystals 2009 and Amorphous Pharmaceutical Materials 2009 in Amsterdam on September 21-22. Mike Hargreaves, Cobalt’s Applications Scientist, will give a talk entitled “Characterisation of Crystalline and Non-Crystalline Materials by Transmission Raman Spectroscopy (TRS)” covering the rapid analysis applications for crystal state analysis.

Cobalt Light Systems will be at Pittcon 2009 exhibiting from March 9-12 on booth 625. Cobalt will be introducing the TRS100 Rapid Assay System for pharmaceutical and chemical assay.
