Cobalt Talks Security

Mike Hargreaves, Cobalt’s Applications Scientist, has been invited to talk at a major security conference. The SPIE’s European Security and Defence conference is in Berlin from August 31st to the 3rd of September.

It is an event “that bridges the divide between fundamental optical science and the application of the underpinning technologies in advanced security and defence systems”. The subject of Mike’s talk is “Advances in Raman spectroscopy in the forensics and security arena” and will cover SORS as applied to security and screening applications. In particular, advances in SORS have opened up the field of non-invasive analysis for forensic and security interest, detection of controlled substances, explosive precursors in opaque containers and the identification of ivory. Mike will be on hand during the show to discuss and explain how Cobalt Light Systems can develop technology for security and defence applications, including non-invasive screening of illegal/dangerous substances through coloured and/or opaque containers.
